Hatchlings

Today we decided to use our GrabOne coupon and hit the Hatchlings Exhibit on at Waikato Museum. It's about dinosaurs, eggs, babies , you get it. The girls had fun wandering around and getting hands on with some of the exhibits. Madi read aloud some crazy dinosaur facts and there were a few 'wow look at that' moments.

In the pic below Ky has her hand on an Ostrich egg. We once stayed at a B&B that farmed Ostriches, and Rog had an Ostrich omelet for brekkie, I think they didn't use the whole egg just for him though!

Sienna found these air vents in the floor, so she did her Marilyn Monroe thing on them.
And of course, what would a glance out the window be without some people floating down a giant river on a lilo? Hmmm.

The Trinket Box

This morning little bear staggered out of bed, trawling blankey along behind her, and greeted me with 'Can we do the box now?' The box was a present from Nana, originally she sent Denver one for her birthday last week. Well, that wouldn't do at all. Didn't Nana know that Sienna wanted a box? NEEDED a box? Nana got right onto it as all good Nana's do, and lo and behold yesterday a package arrived. It's a kitset type of activity. You add a little water to the enclosed plaster of paris, mix it up, pour it into the mold and leave it to harden overnight. Sienna wasted no time hitting the paints this morning.

She spent ages decorating the bottom (yes, the only bit you don't see, lol).

She wanted the interior to be yellow 'like sunshine, but not hot like sunshine.'

She was very pleased with the final product, now sitting full of her precious jewelery.

Camp Out

Last night the kiddo's (Ky, Sienna and Denver) decided to try camping in the backyard. They set up a bed on the trampoline, I sprayed them with bug spray and they snuggled down. I was pretty sure they wouldn't last out there, being their first time, but this morning everyone was still there. I should say that I was on the couch in full view of them all night, as well as the fact the backyard is locked and guarded by Gilby, thus, they were completely safe. They can't wait to do it again :)

The Word Party

Loving words clutch crimson roses,
Rude words sniff and pick their noses,
Sly words come dressed as foxes,
Short words stand on cardboard boxes,
Common words tell jokes and gabble,
Complicated words play Scrabble,
Swear words stamp around and shout,
Hard words stare eachother out,
Foreign words look lost and shrug,
Careless words trip on the rug,
Long words slouch with stooping shoulders,
Code words carry secret folders,
Silly words flick rubber bands,
Hyphenated words hold hands,
Strong words show off, bending metal,
Sweet words call each other 'petal',
Small words yawn and suck their thumbs,
Till at last the morning comes,
Kind words give out farewell posies....
Snap! The dictionary closes.
