Mini Masterchef

Forget Gilby Goes Gourmet, this week it's Roger goes gourmet. Kyla and I have picked out five recipes from prominant foodies, and are cooking up something new each night. We get Rog to guess which chef it's from, and at the end of the week he'll rank them in order of yumminess.
Pasta Wraps with Chicken and Prosciutto

Tonights dish was from kiwi Jo Seagar, and no, he didn't guess correctly.

Pasta Wraps With Chicken And Prosciutto
Ingredients
3 cups of shaved parmesan cheese
2 cups of cooked shredded chicken
6 slices of prosciutto
1 packet of fresh lasagne sheets
3 cloves garlic, crushed
300ml cream
2 x 400g tins of chopped or crushed tomatoes
1/2 cup of white wine
2 cups of button mushrooms
1 cup of mozzarella cheese, grated

fresh tomato and basil to garnish.

garlic

Method

Place a handful of cheese and chicken and approx one slice of prosciutto on top of a pasta sheet, covering all but a couple of centimetres in from the edge. Roll up the pasta sheet tightly and repeat with remaining pasta. Cut each pasta roll into 3 or 4 pieces and place in a baking dish, layer as necessary.

mushrooms

Place garlic and cream in a large frypan, stir over a medium heat, add the tomatoes, wine and mushrooms, then bring to the boil. Pour over the pasta rolls, and sprinkle the top with mozzarella cheese. Bake at 180 C for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and garnish with tomato and basil.

Kyla had great fun making this, and was so excited to present the finished product to dad. She encountered fresh garlic cloves for the first time, and basil. She loves the little basil plant we brought because it smells so nice.

Roger is pretty pleased too ;)

Rog is a lucky, lucky man!! Can I sign up as a judge too?

Looks like a heap of fun for Kyla too, and what awesome cooking skills she is learning and perfecting!

The Word Party

Loving words clutch crimson roses,
Rude words sniff and pick their noses,
Sly words come dressed as foxes,
Short words stand on cardboard boxes,
Common words tell jokes and gabble,
Complicated words play Scrabble,
Swear words stamp around and shout,
Hard words stare eachother out,
Foreign words look lost and shrug,
Careless words trip on the rug,
Long words slouch with stooping shoulders,
Code words carry secret folders,
Silly words flick rubber bands,
Hyphenated words hold hands,
Strong words show off, bending metal,
Sweet words call each other 'petal',
Small words yawn and suck their thumbs,
Till at last the morning comes,
Kind words give out farewell posies....
Snap! The dictionary closes.
